Faux shearling that stays put

Plush, warm, sewn in. Nothing to pull out, nothing to lose. Step in, you're good.

One rip strap, done

Press it shut, walk. Rip it open, done. All the snug of laces, none of the bunny ears.

Loon'r Sidekick in Midnight Disco, EVA lower close-up

Why the bottom half
is foam

The Sidekick's lower is one piece of closed-cell EVA, the same foam as its big siblings. The upper is a light synthetic that skips the bulk. Here's what the foam half buys you.

  1. Lighter. 10 ounces a boot, about half a Lo Rider.
  2. Waterproof where it counts. The EVA lower is sealed up to where the upper starts.
  3. Doesn't crack in cold. The foam stays flexible well below the Sidekick's +15°F rating.
  4. Doesn't get heavy when wet. The foam doesn't absorb water.
  5. Easier to clean. Hose the lower, wet cloth for the upper. Done.

Nothing
to think
about

Sidekick is the boot you don't think about. That's by design. Two decisions make it work: a permanently-attached faux shearling liner (warm without the laundry) and a single rip strap (snug without the laces).

  1. Built-in faux shearling. Plush, warm, soft from the first wear. No liner to lose, no break-in.
  2. Single rip strap. Press to snug, rip to release. The cuff adjusts from 13.5 to 16.25 inches around, thick socks included.
  3. Slim profile. Nine inches tall, 10 ounces a boot. About half the weight of a Lo Rider.
  4. +15°F warmth. Plenty for the in-between weeks. Drive to the lift, school drop-off, dog walk, errands.

If Hi Flyer is the deep-winter workhorse, Sidekick is the boot you keep by the door.

Common questions

The stuff people actually email us about.

What size should I order?

+

Start with your normal shoe size, the one you think you are before a new brand tells you otherwise. Want a second opinion? Stand on a piece of paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe, measure the distance in inches, and match that to our size chart. Our boots are unisex sized: the chart shows men's and women's columns side by side because the same physical boot fits both. If you fall between sizes, see the half-size question below.

Do they run small or big?

+

True to size. Order your normal shoe size. Between sizes? Size down. If your closet can't agree on what size you are, measure your foot (see above) and let the chart break the tie.

I'm between sizes. Up or down?

+

Size down. The liner packs in a little after a few wears, so a snug-not-squished fit out of the box settles to just-right. Going up is where heel slip comes from: if your heel feels slippy after a few wears, you went a step too big. Order the smaller of the two, and exchange free within 30 days if it's not quite right.

Do they fit wide feet?

+

Yes, with caveats. The EVA shell is naturally roomy through the forefoot and doesn't compress around the sides the way leather does. Customers with bunions, wide forefeet, and EE/EEE width feet generally find them comfortable. EEEE+ width, we can't promise, but our 30-day return policy means it's a safe try.

Are they stiff to walk in?

+

The Sidekick is our lightest boot and the most flexible. It's built for the in-and-out winter days, not the deep-snow grind, so flex and ease-of-movement were front of mind from the first sketch.

How warm are they?

+

Rated to +15°F, comfortable up to about 55°F. It's the lighter boot for milder days: the in-between weeks, the school run, the dog walk, the drive to the lift. (Assumes a sock and you moving around.) For deep cold, the Hi Flyer and Lo Rider are rated to -20°F.

From the Van

We started this in a muddy parking lot.

It started with a van. Mud season. The unfussy winter boots we'd brought back from Japan quietly became the company.

In early 2026 we went back. Different season, different reason. We weren't looking for another boot. We found one anyway. Lighter, softer, made for the days that aren't quite winter.

The Sidekick is the boot we fell for on that second trip. The one we made for everything in between.

Want a second opinion? Measure.

Stand on a piece of paper, heel against a wall. Mark the tip of your longest toe, then measure heel to mark. Match that number to the chart. Our boots are unisex, so the M and W labels are the same boot with different numbers. Between sizes or right on a line? Size down.

Measure at the end of the day, when your feet are at their biggest.

Caring for the boots

+
Spray the EVA lower with the garden hose. Wipe the upper with a wet cloth. Don't store the boot near a heater. Don't stage your boots on the front step in July sun for the gram (the color holds up but UV is not their friend). Read the full care guide →
