We could say something ridiculous like "Loon'r is so much more than just a boot," but we just met and we'd prefer not to lie to you. It's a boot. Three of them, actually. And in all fairness, they're damned good boots.
Born out of the thin air and howling winds of the Rockies, Loon'r takes its name from the loon: a sturdy, funny-looking bird with a knack for staying warm and dry in the wettest conditions. We figured we'd build a boot for the same thing.
The tall one. Slip-on with a cinch cuff to the calf, rated to -25°F, made for the days that don't quit.
Shop Hi Flyer · $159.95The mid one. Same backbone, lower to the ground. For mud season, dog walks, and grocery runs that don't require gaiters.
Shop Lo Rider · $149.95The new one. Lighter than both, lower than either. For quick trips and milder days.
Shop Sidekick · $119.95Some serious, some silly. We don't take ourselves too seriously and we'd rather not start now.
They might look like a galosh mated with a small tire, but Loon'r boots are obnoxiously lightweight. Go ahead. Pick up a pair and try not to react. We dare you.
Speaking of funk: the Hi Flyer and Lo Rider liners come out, so they air out between wears. Add a spritz of fabric deodorizer if you're feeling fancy.

March 2024, Silverton, Colorado
It had started a few years earlier on a ski trip to Japan. We first spotted slip-on foam boots in Niseko and later bought a few pairs in Furano. Then came a van week in Silverton when the weather couldn't pick a lane: mud, then snow, then ice, sometimes all three before lunch. Those boots were the only thing that kept my feet dry. Ugly. Unbothered. They saved the trip, and I couldn't stop thinking about them.
So we made our own. Built the fit for North American feet and picked colors that made us laugh. Three seasons in, they're still slip-on and still rated for real winter.
The '26 lineup is three boots now. Same idea. Just more feet to put them on.

Mike's notes on how Loon'r came to be, from the start.
Late March 2024, in a van in Silverton. Mud season. Dogs. Gear everywhere. The winter boots we'd picked up on a trip to Japan quietly became the MVP of the entire trip.
Read itBefore Silverton, there was Japan. The B&B owner. The bus driver. City workers clearing snow. Lifties working their shift on the mtn. Different people. Same style boot. We grabbed three pairs: two for us and one for a friend back home.
Read itEvery time we made the boot stiffer, heavier, or more complicated… it got worse. A removable liner is not the “fancier” option. But it's the one that works for this type of boot.
Read itWe guessed on size curves. We overestimated demand for some colors and underestimated others. Every wrong guess taught us something useful.
Read itThe sampling year wasn't one big decision. It was hundreds of small ones, made in cement rooms far from home, and carried back in whatever would close.
Read itOne more thing, since people ask: you'll see us written as Loon'r, Loonr (that one's the web address), @_loonr (that one's Instagram), LOONR, and the occasional Loonar. The loon standing in for the apostrophe in our logo is us too. Different spellings, same company, same boots, same place. Spell it however you like.
That's the corny marketing intro out of the way.
