Why the bottom half
is foam
The Sidekick's lower is one piece of closed-cell EVA, the same foam as its big siblings. The upper is a light synthetic that skips the bulk. Here's what the foam half buys you.
- Lighter. 10 ounces a boot, about half a Lo Rider.
- Waterproof where it counts. The EVA lower is sealed up to where the upper starts.
- Doesn't crack in cold. The foam stays flexible well below the Sidekick's +15°F rating.
- Doesn't get heavy when wet. The foam doesn't absorb water.
- Easier to clean. Hose the lower, wet cloth for the upper. Done.
Nothing
to think
about
Sidekick is the boot you don't think about. That's by design. Two decisions make it work: a permanently-attached faux shearling liner (warm without the laundry) and a single rip strap (snug without the laces).
- Built-in faux shearling. Plush, warm, soft from the first wear. No liner to lose, no break-in.
- Single rip strap. Press to snug, rip to release. The cuff adjusts from 13.5 to 16.25 inches around, thick socks included.
- Slim profile. Nine inches tall, 10 ounces a boot. About half the weight of a Lo Rider.
- +15°F warmth. Plenty for the in-between weeks. Drive to the lift, school drop-off, dog walk, errands.

What size should I order?

Start with your normal shoe size, the one you think you are before a new brand tells you otherwise. Want a second opinion? Stand on a piece of paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe, measure the distance in inches, and match that to our size chart. Our boots are unisex sized: the chart shows men's and women's columns side by side because the same physical boot fits both. If you fall between sizes, see the half-size question below.
Do they run small or big?

True to size. Order your normal shoe size. Between sizes? Size down. If your closet can't agree on what size you are, measure your foot (see above) and let the chart break the tie.
I'm between sizes. Up or down?

Size down. The liner packs in a little after a few wears, so a snug-not-squished fit out of the box settles to just-right. Going up is where heel slip comes from: if your heel feels slippy after a few wears, you went a step too big. Order the smaller of the two, and exchange free within 30 days if it's not quite right.
Do they fit wide feet?

The EVA lower doesn't compress around the sides the way leather does. The Sidekick is new this season and we're still gathering wide-foot feedback, so if yours turn out snug, exchanges are free for 30 days.
Are they stiff to walk in?

The Sidekick is our lightest boot. The lower is the same EVA foam as the Hi Flyer and Lo Rider, so it stays flexible well below +15°F. It's built for the in-and-out winter days, not the deep-snow grind.
How warm are they?

Rated to +15°F, comfortable up to about 55°F. It's the lighter boot for milder days: the in-between weeks, the school run, the dog walk, the drive to the lift. (Assumes a sock and you moving around.) For deep cold, the Hi Flyer and Lo Rider are rated to -25°F.

The lower is, the upper isn't. The EVA lower is waterproof up to where the material changes; above that line the upper is water resistant: snow, rain and slush are fine, wading is not.

Not for the Sidekick. Its faux shearling is sewn in, so there's nothing to pull out and nothing to lose. Hi Flyer and Lo Rider liners are sold separately and size-matched (shop liners). How long does shipping take?

Pairs are shipping now, earlier orders first. Standard ground delivery is 3 to 7 business days within the continental US once we ship. We'll send a tracking number when your order ships. All boots ship free, Alaska and Hawaii included. Smaller items (replacement liners, parts) ship for $12.99, or free once your order hits $80.
Returns and exchanges?

You have 30 days from the day your boots are delivered, and what counts is when you ask, not when the box gets back to us. Exchanges are free, both ways. Returns are free in the lower 48; from Alaska and Hawaii, we send a prepaid label and take its cost out of your refund. Boots should be unused. Try them on indoors all you like (a couple of laps around the house counts); once they've been worn outside, they can't come back. Once we send your label, get the box to the carrier within 14 days. Start a return at our Returns & Exchanges page and we'll walk you through it. Refunds usually land on your card within five business days, depending on your bank. Exchanges ship as soon as we process the inbound. Holiday orders placed November 25 through December 24 have until January 15. Inside your 30 days: no fee, no catch.

We started this in a muddy parking lot.

It started with a van, mud season and the unfussy winter boots we'd brought back from Japan. So we made our own.
In early 2026, on our second trip to the factory, we started on one more boot: lighter, slimmer, made for the days that aren't quite winter.
That's the Sidekick. If Hi Flyer is the deep-winter workhorse, Sidekick is the boot you keep by the door.
